Everything You Need to Know About All-on-6 Dental Implants

Missing teeth not only lowers your confidence but leads to many oral health issues; therefore, one should never ignore the problem and get a dental implant as a replacement for missing teeth. Out of all the dental implants, all 6 dental implants are considered best if you have enough bone structure in the jaw as it acts as an anchor for a bridge or over-denture, and it creates a permanent prosthesis with the help of 6 dental implants.

Issues Related to Missing Teeth:

  • Limited Food Choice: without teeth, we are restricted to eating only soft and easy to chew food items because the process of chewing and biting becomes difficult. So, one might have to leave their favorite food items.
  • Increase in Space Between the Remaining teeth: a missing tooth can create a space therefore allowing the natural teeth to migrate and result in poor occlusion.
  • Speech Issues: missing teeth can cause speech problems since they are important in creating the right sound.
  • Bone Loss: the process of chewing food stimulates the growth of the jawbone but since without teeth, the process becomes difficult, it causes bone loss.
  • Disorientation of Shape and Structure of Face: missing teeth leads to skin sagging and changing the alignment of the face, which further makes us look older than our actual age.
  • Difficulty in Maintaining Oral Hygiene: whenever we eat anything, few particles get stuck in the gap, which causes pain and discomfort. Moreover, it is difficult to clean the area, which can further lead to many issues related to oral hygiene.

Procedure:

At Futuredent, we perform the All-on-6 implant procedure under sedation for your comfort. After taking digital scans of your teeth and jaw to determine the placement of the posts, your dentist prepares your arch by removing any remaining broken or damaged teeth and infected tissue.

Next, the dentist makes incisions in the gum tissue to expose the jawbone. They drill a small hole in the jaw and screw in the implant. For All-on-6 implants, the posts are set at an angle to increase stability and reduce tension on the bone when biting and chewing. The posts are then connected to abutments, which form the attachment between the denture plate and the implants.

Are You a Candidate for All-on-6 Dental Implants?

Some  patients may require extensive bone grafts, a sinus lift, or treatment for advanced gum disease before proceeding with a single dental implant procedure. All-on-6 implants allow you to bypass many of the surgical preparations required for standard implants.

You may be a candidate for All-on-6 dental implants if you:

  • Have lost or damaged most of your teeth in a dental arch
  • Experienced some jawbone loss
  • Have gum disease, which prevents you from getting conventional implants
  • Suffered from dental trauma or damage to jaw muscles

If you have an autoimmune disease, such as diabetes or Lupus, or are severely immunocompromised, you may be ineligible to receive All-on-6 dental implants. Poor immune function can prevent the implants from healing properly and inhibit osseointegration, which is critical for the stability of the implants.
